Health Education England expands GP National Recruitment Office exams by extending Pearson VUE partnership

LONDON, UK, June 11, 2015 – Health Education England has announced it is extending its partnership with Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing (CBT) leaders, and expanding its General Practice National Recruitment Office (GPNRO) exams to include more specialities.

Bob Whelan, managing director of Pearson VUE, said: “I am proud that Health Education England has selected us for this extension of our contract, which brings a welcome expansion of the specialities on offer, and is fundamental to shaping the workforce of the NHS.”

The extension was awarded to Pearson VUE after an open invitation for competitive bids last year [2014].

The licensing exams, delivered at Pearson VUE’s network of over 5,000 test centres around the world, will now include ophthalmology and psychiatry specialities. Health Education England is also using CERTS®, an innovative software tool from Pearson VUE that provides a solution for question banking, test development and administration of testing programmes. The system can be used as the central repository for all programme information including tests, questions, results, candidate demographic and certification data.

Professor Wendy Reid, director of education and quality at Health Education England, said: “We chose to extend our partnership with Pearson VUE because of its extensive test centre network globally along with secure, efficient exam delivery.”
