The Cooper Institute extends partnership with Pearson VUE to deliver personal trainer certification exams

BLOOMINGTON, MN, August 3, 2015 – The Cooper Institute has extended its partnership with computer-based testing global leader Pearson VUE.

The founder of the eponymous institute, Kenneth H. Cooper, MD, MPH, became known as “the father of aerobics” after the popularity of his research-based, groundbreaking book, Aerobics, which was published in 1968. For more than a generation, The Cooper Institute has advanced preventive health practices for children and adults by providing health and fitness training for adults, public safety, and military personnel, partnering with leading researchers, and informing public health policy.

The renewed partnership means that Pearson VUE will continue to deliver The Cooper Institute’s NCCA-accredited Certified Personal Trainer (CI-CPT) certification exams at Pearson VUE’s network of test centers across the USA, as well as military sites worldwide.

Laura DeFina, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Cooper Institute, said: “As we expand the body of scientific research in preventive health, we are excited that our work continues to inform the Personal Trainer community and the public’s understanding of wellness. Pearson VUE’s network of centers provides our candidates with a convenient and professional environment to take the CI-CPT exam.

Bob Whelan, managing director of Pearson VUE, said: “I am very pleased that The Cooper Institute has decided to extend its relationship with Pearson VUE because this will improve the lives and careers of fitness experts and those they serve across America.
